Jacob Lamb & Hogget
The true roots of the Jacob sheep are not known but, they have their origins in the middle east and are quite probably one of the oldest breeds in the world, with historical references dating back to the Old Testament book of Genesis. They have been bred in England for at least 350 years.
Jacob lamb is naturally lean, tender and full of mouthwatering flavour. When taken to hogget, (a year older) they develop an exceptionally full flavour which is often described as slightly sweeter than commercial breeds.
